Joshua M. Murphree
Joshua Murphree joined Martin & Chock, Inc. after working as an engineer in Melbourne, Florida, where he was involved in the design, detailing, and special inspections of condominiums, office buildings, and luxury homes. His experience included computer modeling and structural design of wood, masonry, concrete, precast concrete, and structural and light gauge steel construction. Prior to that he was a research/teaching assistant at the Florida Institute of Technology, where he received a Master of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering. The results of his thesis on the development of vulnerability matrices for predicting insured hurricane losses in Florida were presented at the 10th Americas Conference on Wind Engineering in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2005.
Joshua has acquired skills in Geographical Information System (GIS) software and he is involved in a variety of natural hazard analyses for the State of Hawaii utilizing Hawaii databases of structures developed by Martin & Chock. Since joining the firm, Joshua has been actively engaged in both research applications in wind and seismic engineering as well as practical structural design. Some of the projects Joshua has worked on are summarized below.
