Wind Design Provisions Guide

This 2014 NOAA and State of Hawaii sponsored publication authored by Martin & Chock and to be published by the International Code Council provides a comprehensive technical reference to the new State of Hawaii Building Code. This includes hurricane resistant design requirements for architects, engineers, construction material suppliers, contractors, and building officials. This includes the new Hawaii design standards for Enhanced Hurricane Protection Areas for publicly owned high-occupancy buildings, Essential government facilities and storm shelters requiring continuity of operations, and residential safe rooms for hurricane protection. The project was performed in collaboration with the University of Hawaii College of Engineering Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering’s new windborne debris test facility.
